Mumbai: Two cos sacked for Metro project delay

Continuing its crackdown on delays in Metro projects, the MMRDA on Tuesday ended the contracts of Simplex Infrastructures Ltd and the MBZ-RCC joint venture that were working on two stretches and a car depot on the Rs 11,000-crore D N Nagar - Mandale Metro 2B corridor. While Simplex was working on an elevated viaduct, MBZ -RCC had been appointed for construction of an elevated corridor and the depot. Simplex has completed only 5% of the work against the expected 65% in 30 months, while MBZ-RCC has finished even less. The action comes a day after Simplex was fired from the Andheri-Dahisar route.
