Tales that travel the world

There isn't a better way to learn about the contrasting cultures and traditions of foreign lands than to explore and engage with their art. That is exactly what Ulka Mayur, a storyteller, theatre personality and folklorist has set out to do.

This Sunday, at a studio in Andheri, she will introduce Globetrotting with folktales, a unique interactive storytelling session where folklore from different countries around the world will be narrated, accompanied by some catchy music played by an instrumentalist.

Being a doctorate laureate in literature, Mayur curates folktales for children and adults and performs them in museums, libraries, schools, literary festivals, and corporate events. “Picking a story is tricky. I have certain yardsticks for that, like it needs to be entertaining, relatable, child-friendly and offer a fresh perspective,” she informs. The session will be in English and Hindi and it’s open to anybody above four years of age.
