"Fine Her In Lakhs": Woman Makes Reel On Airport Baggage Carousel

The relentless pursuit of viral fame on social media has created a new wave of disruption in India, with public spaces becoming battlegrounds for content creation. Gone are the days of peaceful commutes or quiet moments in public areas. Influencers and aspiring creators are wielding their smartphones like weapons, filming content with reckless abandon, oblivious to the inconvenience they cause to those around them.

This phenomenon isn't confined to a particular platform or location. Whether you're crammed into a crowded metro train, jostling for space on a local bus, or simply trying to navigate a bustling street, you're likely to encounter someone holding up the flow of movement in the name of a viral reel. Schools, colleges, and even offices haven't been spared from this intrusion. The pervasive "reel-mania" has transformed these everyday spaces into a never-ending stage for cringe-inducing content, leaving ordinary people to bear the brunt of the disruption.

A recent video depicting a woman reclining atop a baggage carousel at an airport has shed light on the issue of obstruction caused by content creation.

The video was shared by a user named desimojito on X with a caption that reads, "The virus has reached the airports too." The video has gone viral and has gotten more than 2 million views. Many people criticised the woman for doing such a bizarre act at the airport.

"This is one of the direst parts of the airport, and she is lying down there, gross. Fine her, fine her in lakhs. Make an example out of her," commented a user.

"What is this? Please spare the airport at least," wrote another user.

"Can't Score Runs From Dugout": Experts Rip Into DC For India Star's Snub

Former Australian cricketer Tom Moody stated that wicketkeeper-batter Prithvi Shaw's omission from the Delhi Capitals' (DC) playing XI "doesn't make sense" and suggested that DC should select 24-year-old batter for their upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 matches. Moody pointed out that, while Shaw has been unimpressive in recent seasons, selecting him over Bhui is a more plausible option given his international cricket experience. "It doesn't make sense due to the fact that you've got an Indian international player (Prithvi Shaw) in the dugout. Yes, he hasn't performed in the IPL like we had all hoped he would, but you can't score runs from the dugout," speaking to ESPNcricinfo Moody stated.

Shaw was benched for Delhi's first two games this season. Ricky Bhui, a domestic cricket star, has not capitalised on his opportunities, scoring 3 and 0 against the Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Rajasthan Royals (RR), respectively.

Wasim Jaffer expressed surprise that Delhi did not play Shaw despite keeping him for the IPL 2024 mini-auction. In response to the swashbuckling opener's omission from DC's opening two encounters, Jaffer said, "Now that they have held onto him and not let him go into the auction, I'm surprised they're not playing him. He's played for Mumbai for most of the season, so you'd imagine that he's fit. I'm surprised. Punishing him and then losing the games is not the way to go forward."

Shaw came under fire for a spate of subpar performances in the IPL 2023. He finished with 106 runs from eight innings, an average of 13.25.

Ricky Bhui was caught behind for a duck in Thursday's match against Rajasthan. Nandre Burger struck out the right-handed batter with a crisp bouncer.

Moody commented on the dismissal, stating that it highlighted the disparity between domestic cricket and the IPL.

"That's exactly what you'd like to see a genuine quick bowler to do. And to do it to a top-order player is even more alarming. What it does also is highlight the jump between Ranji Trophy runs to international cricket and IPL," he added.

Rishabh Pant-led side will be desperate to open their account in IPL 2024 when they take on reigning champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Sunday.

Why Is "Shaheed" An Issue For Facebook, Instagram? Meta Urged To Lift Ban

The oversight board, monitoring content on Meta's platforms, is calling on the company to relax its restrictions on the Arabic word "shaheed" meaning "martyr" in English. After serious review, the board concluded that Meta's blanket ban on this word was overly broad and led to the unnecessary suppression of speech among millions of users of certain communities and regions.

The board recommended that Meta should only remove posts containing "shaheed" if they are connected to clear signs of violence or if they violate other Meta rules independently, reports Reuters.

Under the current policy, Meta removes instances of "shaheed" when referring to people who are deemed dangerous. However, the oversight board argued that this approach is overly broad and restricts freedom of expression and civic discourse. Co-chair Helle Thorning-Schmidt said that the word has linguistic complexity and diverse meanings beyond just "martyr" in English. The board recognized that while "shaheed" might sometimes glorify violent acts, it is also used in neutral contexts such as reporting, academic discussions, and human rights debates.

The board stated that Meta's existing policies against inciting violence and support for designated terrorists and terror outfits are sufficient to address the risks associated with terrorist activity on its platforms. They urged Meta to reconsider its approach to moderation to prevent the removal of content that does not endorse terrorism or violence.

In response to these recommendations from the board, Meta is considering changes to its policy regarding the use of the word on its platforms. The board suggests that Meta should only remove content containing the term if the posts are associated with clear signs of violence, such as imagery of weapons, statements advocating violence, or references to attacks. Removal should also occur if the post violates other platform rules, such as glorifying terrorism.

This follows years of criticism directed at Meta's management of content related to the Middle East. The criticism intensified during the Israel-Hamas hostilities in October, with rights groups accusing Meta of suppressing pro-Palestinian content on its platforms. The Meta oversight board said that recommendations made to the company regarding the word "shaheed" remained valid even during crises like the Gaza conflict.

Meta has confirmed that it will review the feedback and provide a response within 60 days, as per USA Today.

"Doctor Advised Me To Reduce One Baby When I Conceived Triplets": Farah

Choreographer-director Farah Khan recently spoke about her journey to motherhood. She also opened up about the challenges and joys of delivering triplets through IVF in 2008 with her husband Shirish Kunder. In a conversation with Nova IVF Fertility, Farah Khan shared how she turned to manifestation while reading The Secret, hoping for a pregnancy after struggling to conceive naturally. Farah said that she and Shirish had already chosen names for their children before learning they were expecting triplets. She shared, "Me and Shirish started talking about kids and what we want to name them and how they will be and all that. When the doctor called I was 100 percent sure that we were going to be pregnant and she said, 'Listen, Farah, don't jump too high, I want you to be calm, you are pregnant but don't get your hopes up but it is multiple pregnancies'."

Farah Khan recounted the shock of discovering her multiple pregnancies and the difficult decision she faced due to her age. Advised by her doctor to "reduce" one child because of the risks associated with her age, Farah said that she bravely chose to proceed with the triplets and delivered her three bundles of joy - Czar, Anya, and Diva in 2008. "At ten days she (the doctor) called me and she said that it's triplets, and I said, 'Haan, I just knew it doc'. Of course we were too excited and the doctor gave us a reality check and said that we'd have to reduce one because normally most twins start out as triplets. She said that you're going to be 43 when the children come and it's not good for you. Your stomach is great, your lining is fab but three children is a big risk and one child can be really small," Farah said.

Talking about the playful banter in her household, Farah Khan shared how her children jokingly tease her about the doctor's advice to "reduce" one of them. Farah revealed, "The doctor gave me the worst case scenario, but I was like, 'Doctor, you tell me what you need, how big you want each child to be.' So she said that safely they should be two kilos each. I said I'll make sure that they are over and above that. You will not believe my kids were two and a half kilos each. So, I was literally carrying seven and a half kilos and roaming. I was like I am not going to reduce one child, and now my children have games like, 'You should have reduced that one, the doctor told you you should have removed one child.'"

How A Karnataka Man Was Lured Into IPL Betting And Ended With 1 Crore Debt

Ranjitha, a 23-year-old housewife, was found hanging at her home in Karnataka's Chitradurga. As cops investigated the death, they unearthed a grim saga involving cricket betting and a debt of over Rs 1 crore involving her husband Darshan Babu.

An assistant engineer in the Minor Irrigation Department, Darshan Babu, started betting on IPL matches in 2021, a year after his marriage to Ranjitha. His father-in-law says that Darshan was lured into cricket betting with a promise of quick money.

Darshan was told that he could make easy money by betting on IPL matches and there was hardly any risk involved. The gang running the betting racket even promised to finance his bets if he would give them blank cheques as security.

The engineer, who police say is in his late 20s, caved in and started betting on Indian Premier League (IPL) games. He won at first and started placing bigger bets.

But luck, as it often does, turned its back on him, leaving behind a trail of losses. Hooked on the allure of betting, he had no option but to borrow money at high-interest rates and ended up with debts of over 1 crore by the end of the IPL season in 2023.

The weight of Darshan's debts bore down heavily on the young couple, who have a two-year-old son. What also followed was constant harassment by the moneylenders, which eventually drove Ranjitha to suicide.

Police found Ranjitha at her home on March 18. During the investigation, they also found a suicide note detailing the constant threats and harassment by the moneylenders.

Her father in his complaint has named 13 people and accused them of intimidating and threatening the couple.

Three of the lenders have been arrested and police say investigation in the case is still on.

Ranjitha's tragic death has spurred a conversation on the dark world of online betting. Last year, the Enforcement Directorate unearthed a betting ring called Mahadev where the promoters had racked up over Rs 400 crore. The Mahadev app came under the crosshairs of probe agencies only after a Rs 200-crore wedding in the UAE this February, paid for entirely in cash.

Commercial Planes Hit By GPS Jamming, Spoofing Across Europe: Report

Commercial planes are routinely "jammed" or "spoofed" in the airspace around the Baltic Sea, according to a report in Newsweek. The outlet said that in the last two days, 1,614 planes have been affected by persistent interference with the national signals. The report is based on open-source analysis from an X account that regularly tracks GPS interference. A map posted by the handle shows extensive jamming across Poland and southern Sweden. An updated map shared later appears to show interference limited to large parts of northern Poland.

Interfering with Global Positioning System (GPS) and broader Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) signals can confuse manned or unmanned aircraft, or make their navigation systems believe they are in a different location.

The increase in interference has been blamed on jammers in Russia's Kaliningrad region, which is sandwiched between Poland and Lithuania - the base for one of Russia's major naval fleets.

Newsweek spoke to a Lithuanian defence official, who pointed towards Russia. "Russian armed forces have a wide spectrum of military equipment dedicated for GNSS interference, including jamming and spoofing, at varying distances, duration and intensity," said the official who has not been named.

Earlier this month, a pilot told The Telegraph that the issue has become "more prevalent" in airspace and regions experiencing increased military operations or border tensions.

"Every flight I operate across northern Turkey and into Iraq - essentially along the Russian and Iranian borders - now has GPS interference. Aircraft systems alert us when something isn't working. We often get numerous alerts in the space of a couple of hours. It's been like that for around a year now," the unnamed pilot said.

"The GPS interference spoofs the aircraft into not knowing its location. Thankfully, we have other systems to mitigate this issue."

The aviator also said that this issue can take away some of the pilot's visual situational awareness.

"Obviously it's important to know what's below us in case we have a rapid depressurisation, a rare but possible event," said the pilot, adding that airlines have now adapted to this new world.

The Telegraph report also said that some commercial airlines have sent memos to their staff that note how the problem was "particularly widespread" over Ankara in Turkey and Baghdad in Iraq. It was also described as becoming "more prevalent" over the eastern Mediterranean, as well as across Cairo in Egypt and Amman in Jordan.

"Can't Say It Is His Decision": Pollard On Hardik's 'Tactical Mistakes'

Mumbai Indians' batting coach Kieron Pollard backed Hardik Pandya's move to open the bowling instead of Jasprit Bumrah and also said the skipper batting at number seven in their IPL opener against Gujarat Titans was a "collective decision". An inexplicable batting strategy saw MI lose their opener by six runs here on Sunday after they looked on course for victory. Mumbai Indians won the toss and opted to bowl first and surprisingly, Hardik opened the bowling against his former side.

"You have to plan and decide what you want to do as a team. Hardik (Pandya) has also bowled with the new ball for Gujarat over the last couple of years. He swung the new ball and bowled it well, which was nothing new to us.

"We tried to use the advantage of the new ball swinging along. When I look at the decision made, there is nothing wrong with it, and we move on," Pollard said at the post-match press conference.

When the discussion turned to the logic behind Hardik coming in to bat at number seven Pollard said one can't attribute the decision to the skipper.

"No decision is made on full autonomy, so we can't say it is his decision. As a team, we have plans; we talk about setting entry points for batters. The top order batted deep into the game, and we also had two power hitters to go in the back end.

"Usually, if you look at it over time, Tim (David) has finished games for us, and Hardik has done it over the years.

"So, at any point, any one of them can resurrect the situation. It didn't happen tonight, so there will likely be a chat about who should have gone earlier.

"But all of those things are in hindsight, and as a team, we make decisions, so let's put a stop to 'Hardik made a decision, Hardik did this, Hardik did that'. We are a team. We make decisions collectively as one," the West Indian said.

Pollard also threw his weight behind embattled opener Ishan Kishan and said he will come good in the coming matches as he is an "experienced" player within the setup.

"For him, again, he did not score tonight so, we can look at all sorts of different things, but I said it's a long tournament, he is an experienced guy within our setup and we expect big things from Ishan.

"He is in a good space, he has been practising well and has been doing fairly decently, so hopefully within the next couple of games, you can see great performances from him and all of you will continue to laud his brains when he does that," Pollard said.

Kishan was dismissed for a duck by Azmatullah Omarzai.

Four players, including Punjab all-rounder Naman Dhir, made their Mumbai Indians debut in the team's opening fixture of IPL 2024.

Pollard was impressed with Dhir's performance.

"Firstly, kudos go to the scouts and all the guys who work behind the scenes and continue to unearth all of these talents. He was on the radar. For us, he has been within our setup for the last couple of months, going to England and developing.

"So it was something that we'd seen in that guy, and he came out and was very expressive.

"Again, with the lofted shot, we are excited about these things, but I thought he had much more to offer. His calmness, even when we lost that first wicket, and continuing with that intent is a good start for him.

"But again, this is merely the start of something. At the end of it, he scored 20-odd (runs). Let's give him that space; let him enjoy the moment."

Ex-Google Recruiter Reveals Job Interview Phrases That Are "Red Flags"

During a job interview, you can take several effective approaches to stand out to the hiring manager. However, there are a few behaviours you'll want to avoid, such as that could turn your interviewer off. Speaking to CNBC Make It, Nolan Church, CEO of salary data company FairComp and former recruiter with Google and DoorDash, revealed the major red flags that might cause the recruiters to raise an eyebrow.

"To begin with, when an interviewer asks what you can improve on, don't use phrases that make it sound like you think you have nothing to learn," Mr Church told the media outlet. "These can be phrases like 'I work too hard' or 'I'm a perfectionist,' says Mr Church. They're framed as character flaws when they're compliments."

Mr Church said phrases like these build the perception that the candidate is "inauthentic".

"They could think you're either not being honest about who you are as a person or you genuinely think you can't get better as a worker," Mr Church said. "I'm not hiring you to be perfect. I'm hiring you to grow with us," he added.

Instead, Mr Church recommended that they should use an example of a mistake the job seeker made and what they learned from it.

Mr Church said that a negative remark about former colleagues/company or manager during job interview does not give a good impression. "Anything that transfers blame from you to someone else" sounds bad, Church told CNBC Make It. "The people you want to work with take full ownership and accountability," he said adding that taking responsibility indicates that the job seeker is humble enough to admit that they are not perfect and are willing to learn from your mistakes to get better.

"You want to work with people who have the self-awareness to know when they were wrong and to update their mental models to fix it," Mr Church said.

Recruiters interpret statements like "I don't know" as a dead end in the conversation. This implies the job seeker isn't interested in finding a solution, which can be a negative sign.

For freshers, however, the expert suggests a more measured approach. Instead of simply saying "I don't know," they can acknowledge the lack of experience but demonstrate their problem-solving skills. For example, they could say, "I haven't encountered this specific situation before, but here's how I would approach finding a solution..."

The Al Qaeda Plot To Kill Bill Clinton That History Nearly Forgot

Air Force One with President Bill Clinton and First Lady Hillary Clinton aboard was on its final approach to Manila on Nov. 23, 1996, when their U.S. Secret Service detail received alarming intelligence: an explosive device had been planted on the motorcade route into the Philippines capital.

Acting swiftly, the agents switched to a backup route to the Clintons' hotel, foiling a suspected al Qaeda attempt to assassinate the president of the United States minutes after his arrival for the annual Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit.

As the motorcade crawled along the traffic-clogged alternate route, Filipino security officers recovered a powerful bomb on a bridge the convoy would have taken and an SUV abandoned nearby containing AK-47 assault rifles, four retired agents told Reuters.

The assassination attempt, which appears to be one of al Qaeda's earliest attempts to strike the U.S., was mentioned briefly in books published in 2010 and 2019.

Now, eight retired secret service agents - seven of whom were in Manila - have given Reuters the most detailed account to date of the failed plot.

Reuters found no evidence of a U.S. government investigation into the attempt on Clinton's life. The news agency also could not independently determine if intelligence agencies conducted classified probes.

For some of the Secret Service agents interviewed by Reuters, the events in Manila have left unanswered questions.

"I always wondered why I wasn't kept back to stay in Manila to monitor any investigation," said Gregory Glod, the lead Secret Service intelligence agent in Manila and one of seven agents who spoke out for the first time. "Instead, they flew me out the day after Clinton left."

"There was an incident," said Secret Service spokesman Anthony Guglielmi. "It remains classified." He declined to say what, if any, actions the United States took in response.

Clinton did not respond to multiple attempts to reach him through his spokesperson and the Clinton Foundation.

Former CIA director Leon Panetta, who was Clinton's chief of staff at the time, said he was unaware of the incident but that an attempt to kill a president should be investigated.

"As a former chief of staff, I'd be very interested in trying to find out whether somebody put this information to the side and didn't bring it to the attention of people who should have been aware that something like that happened."

Under a 1986 law, it is a crime for a foreign extremist organization to attempt to kill any U.S. national overseas. Prosecution requires authorization from the attorney general - the late Janet Reno in 1996 - which would then trigger an FBI investigation.

The FBI declined to comment on the Manila assassination attempt.

Four former U.S. officials, including the ambassador in Manila at the time, Thomas Hubbard, confirmed the foiled attack to Reuters but said they were also unaware of any U.S. investigation or follow-up actions.

Thirteen years after Osama bin Laden's death, al Qaeda is a diminished force. But the October 7 attacks on Israel by Hamas "mobilized efforts to radicalize and recruit new followers within Muslim communities in Europe," a U.N. panel of experts wrote in a Jan. 29 report, citing al Qaeda propaganda supporting Hamas.

Ominous Intelligence

Glod said a U.S. intelligence agency later assessed that the plot was set up at bin Laden's behest by al Qaeda operatives and the Abu Sayyaf Group, Filipino Islamists widely considered an arm of al Qaeda.

He declined to identify the agency. Reuters was unable to confirm the assessment and the CIA declined to comment.

According to a 2022 International Crisis Group report, the group is in disarray, with only a handful of its leaders still alive.

The office of the Philippines' president, Department of Foreign Affairs and the National Police did not respond to requests for comment.

Four of the Secret Service agents who spoke to Reuters noted that Ramzi Yousef - the al Qaeda-linked mastermind of the first World Trade Center attack in 1993 and a nephew of September 11 architect Khalid Sheikh Mohammed who had trained Abu Sayyaf militants - was in Manila days before a 1994 visit by Clinton.

Yousef is serving a life sentence plus 240 years in a federal "supermax" prison in Colorado.

An FBI memorandum of its first interview with Yousef after his 1995 arrest noted that he surveyed sites in Manila that media reported Clinton would visit. Yousef "indicated that he considered placing an improvised explosive device in a location along the motorcade route," it said.

Yousef ultimately concluded there was too much security and insufficient time for an attack, the memo said.

Three of the Secret Service agents said they believed that Yousef instead was preparing for the 1996 attack, pointing out that the date of the APEC summit was known in late 1994.

"I knew he (Yousef) was sort of an advance team," said Glod, citing his familiarity with intelligence reports.

Yousef's lawyer, Bernard Kleinman, told Reuters that while "it's conceivable" that Yousef was in Manila in 1994 to begin the foiled 1996 plot against Clinton, he doubted that he did, describing his client as a bragger who made "himself much, much greater than he may have actually been."

The threat posed by al Qaeda and Yousef was just one of the unsettling elements confronting the Secret Service's advance security team, the three agents recalled.

The Philippines was battling communist and Islamist insurgencies. Police discovered a bomb at Manila airport and another at the summit conference center in Subic Bay several days before the Clintons' arrival. The U.S. State Department warned of threats against American diplomats in Manila the day before the First Couple flew in.

Glod told Reuters the Manila assignment was "the worst advance I had ever done in terms of (threat) intel."

The dangers were highlighted for Clinton before the visit in top-secret President's Daily Briefs, according to a military aide, retired U.S. Air Force Lt. Colonel Robert "Buzz" Patterson, who accompanied Clinton on the trip.

Device on a bridge

It was late evening when Clinton flew into Manila.

As Air Force One descended, Secret Service agent Daniel Lewis relayed the intelligence to the Secret Service team at the airport about a "device on a bridge" on the main route to The Manila Hotel.

Buckled into his seat outside the Clintons' cabin, Lewis Merletti, who led Clinton's protective detail and later became Secret Service director, said he came to the same conclusion after a call from a U.S. intelligence officer whose name he didn't know disclose warning of a communications intercept mentioning a "wedding across a bridge."

He said he recalled an intelligence report several years earlier that identified "wedding" as "terrorist code for an assassination." The planned motorcade route showed three bridges on the main route to the Clintons' hotel.

"That's it. We're changing the route," he remembered saying over a secure radio link to Glod, who confirmed Merletti's recollection of the event.

The bomb intended for Clinton was found atop an electrical box on a bridge along the original route, said Merletti, Lewis and Glod, who retired from the Secret Service in 1998, 2003 and 2011, respectively. Glod was rehired in 2017 as a law enforcement instructor before leaving in October 2023.

Reuters video footage of Clinton's arrival shows bomb disposal experts wiring an explosive to the side of an electrical box on a bridge and detonating it. No bomb is seen atop the box.

Filipino security personnel also recovered a red Mitsubishi Pajero abandoned at the far end of the bridge, the agents said. They said the AK-47 assault rifles found inside suggested that the attackers planned to block the span with the vehicle and fire on the motorcade.

The next morning, Glod and Merletti said they were briefed on the plot by a U.S. intelligence official at the U.S. embassy and shown photos of the device.

It comprised armour-piercing rifle-propelled grenades atop a box containing TNT wired to a Nokia phone rigged as a detonator, they said. Lewis and Craig Ulmer, who was the agent in charge of the Manila ground team, said they also later saw the photos.

Dennis Pluchinsky, a retired State Department terrorism analyst who learned of the foiled plot in 2020 while researching a history of anti-U.S. terrorism, noted that in 1995 Clinton issued Presidential Decision Directive 39 committing to "deter, defeat and respond vigorously to all terrorist attacks" against Americans at home or abroad, and "apprehend and prosecute" those responsible.

It was not until after 220 people died in al Qaeda bombings of the U.S. embassies in Kenya and Tanzania in August 1998 that Clinton responded with cruise missile strikes.

Those failed to stop bin Laden from planning fresh attacks.

"Disappointed With Kejriwal": Ex-Supreme Court Judge And Former Colleague

Former Supreme Court Judge N Santosh Hegde said today he was "totally disappointed" with Aam Aadmi Party leader and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who was arrested in connection with an excise policy linked money-laundering case.

Justice (retd) Hegde, a former Solicitor General of India, was among the key personalities, including Mr Kejriwal, behind the then 'India Against Corruption' movement, spearheaded by Anna Hazare, more than a decade ago, which had at the time brought the issue of corruption into sharp focus.

"It clearly shows that when in power, greed overtakes you," he said on the case against Arvind Kejriwal.

"I am totally disappointed. I thought AAP (after it came to power) will uphold administrative fairness which is not there. And it is an indication of the fact that power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely," he told Press Trust of India.

After a part of the movement became a political party (AAP), Justice (retd) Hegde, the former Karnataka Lokayukta, came out of it.

"Special reason for coming out was that politics today is a den of corruption. No political party is free from it. The India Against Corruption movement was fighting against corruption in administration.

It was our principle that we will stay out of politics and try to clean politics. But then a group of people decided that we should enter into politics (and then went on to form AAP) and clean it which I never believed can be done successfully. And I think what's happening today in AAP is an example of what I thought was correct," Mr Hegde said.

He said Arvind Kejriwal had come home to invite him to join the party but he did not agree.

Mr Hegde also shared his views on oft-repeated allegations levelled by opposition parties against the BJP-led NDA government of misusing Central agencies like ED and CBI in corruption cases and targeting them.

"Allegation of parties in opposition that the ruling party is doing it only for destroying opposition, I don't believe it. Yes, they are selectively doing this. But that is no offence at all. Because in criminal jurisprudence, there is no Article 14 (of the Constitution)...does not apply equality.

"And one day when they will come to power, they will go against the BJP. So, ultimately there will be complete justice, is it? If they don't do it against the opposition, then when they come to power they won't do it against these people also. At least 50 per cent justice is being done now," he said.

In the coming Lok Sabha elections, Hegde said he wants every eligible person to vote.

"Vote not based on any caste, or any affiliation whatsoever, vote based on the quality of the candidate. If you don't find a suitable candidate who would serve your constituency, then there is NOTA (None of the Above). Vote for NOTA. That will send a message to political parties that every 'Tom, Dick and Harry' is not a suitable politician," he said.

"End Of An Era": Internet On Gaikwad Replacing Dhoni As CSK Captain In IPL

MS Dhoni will not be leading Chennai Super Kings (CSK) as the franchise announced a new captain on the eve of the start of the new Indian Premier League (IPL) season. CSK announced on Thursday that opening batter Ruturaj Gaikwad will lead the five-time champions in IPL 2024, begining the start of a new era at the franchise. "Presenting @ChennaiIPL's Captain - @Ruutu1331," the IPL posted on X shortly after releasing a picture of all captains posing with the IPL trophy. However, fans on social media labelled the announcement as the "end of an era".

Here's how internet reacted:

"MS Dhoni handed over Chennai Super Kings' captaincy to batter Ruturaj Gaikwad ahead of the start of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. Ruturaj has been an integral part of Chennai Super Kings since 2019 and has played 52 matches in IPL during this period," CSK informed through an official statement on Thursday.

He led the CSK in 212 IPL matches, winning 128 matches and losing 82. Dhoni announced his retirement from international cricket on August 15, 2020, after leading the team to glory in the 2007 T20 World Cup, 2011 ODI World Cup and the 2013 Champions Trophy.

Last year, Dhoni led the Chennai franchise to a record-equalling fifth IPL title against the Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad. The 42-year-old, who remains one of Indian cricket's most admired faces, enjoying fandom that rivals that of some current stars, captained Chennai since the inaugural IPL season in 2008, barring two years when the franchise was suspended from the tournament over fixing charges.

He handed over the captaincy mantle to star-all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja at the start of the 2022 season but returned to lead the franchise again after just eight matches into the season.

Ruturaj was part of CSK's victorious IPL 2023 campaign. One of the heroes of the campaign that year, the Maharashtra batter stitched important partnerships with fellow opener Devon Conway for the Chennai franchise.

In 16 matches in the 2023 season, Gaikwad scored 590 runs at an average of 42.14. He also scored four half-centuries in the tournament, with a best score of 92.

In his IPL career since making his debut for the CSK in 2019 and finding 'yellove' from the fans, he has scored 1,797 runs at an average of 39.07 and a strike rate of 135.52. He has scored one century and 14 fifties, with best score of 101*.

"...A Guy From Kerala": Sanju Samson's Blunt Admission On Team India Spot

One of the most renowned cricketers in India, Sanju Samson has had an intriguing journey so far. A stalwart for the Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League, Samson hasn't quite managed to cement his place in the Indian team in any of the three formats. With the T20 World Cup selection chatter buzzing ahead of the start of IPL 2024, Samson was asked about his views on national team selection. The wicket-keeper batter gave a brutally honest response, highlighting how tough competition for places is in the Indian team.

In a chat with Star Sports, Samson admitted that if a guy from Kerala, like him, has to book a spot in India's national team.

"When you are playing cricket in the world's best country... India is no.1 in the world... the number of players, the number of talent, and the competitions we have... a guy from Kerala. If he has to come and cement his place in the national side, he has to do something special," Samson told Star Sports on their show Star Nahi Far.

Speaking of his approach as a batter, Samson said that he always believed in standing out, and wouldn't mind hitting a six on the very first ball he faced.

"I always wanted to stand out with the way I bat... create my own style. No matter if it's the first ball, I wanted to go out there and hit a six. That was the shift in the mindset. I wanted to do something different. Why do we have to wait for ten balls to hit a six? That was the motive behind the development of my power-hitting."

"I put in a lot of effort during Covid times, a lot of people helped me. I'm very happy, things are coming on nice. The grind keeps on going, I'm never satisfied. I just want to go on and keep doing something spectacular for the side that I play for," Samson concluded.
