Woman Sues Doctor Who Secretly Inseminated Her With His Sperm 34 Years Ago
A woman has sued a fertility doctor in Washington, alleging he secretly used his sperm for her artificial insemination procedure 34 years ago.
Sharon Hayes, now 67, from Hauser in the US state of Idaho, claims that she sought fertility treatment from Dr David R Claypool, an obstetrician and gynaecologist based in Spokane, Washington, back in 1989. This decision was made after she and her then-husband experienced difficulties in conceiving, according to a report in the Associated Press.
In a complaint filed on Wednesday at the Spokane County Superior Court, Ms Hayes revealed her preference for an anonymous donor. However, Dr Claypool allegedly provided deceptive information, assuring her that the donor selection would be based on her specified traits such as hair and eye colour. He assured that the chosen donors would undergo health and genetic screenings.
According to the lawsuit, for each of several treatments, Dr Claypool charged $100 in cash, claiming these funds were meant for the college or medical students supposedly providing the sperm.
It wasn't until last year that her 33-year-old daughter, Brianna Hayes, who was born from this procedure, discovered the identity of her biological father after submitting her DNA to the genetic testing and ancestry website, 23andMe.
Brianna Hayes made another startling discovery that she had a minimum of 16 other half-siblings in the vicinity. It remains uncertain whether any other women are currently pursuing legal actions against Claypool.
In her statement, Brianna Hayes said, “It's been an identity crisis, for sure. This was hidden from me my whole life. I felt traumatised for my mom, and the fact that I'm a product of his actions is off-putting.”
During a conversation with one of his previous patients, Dr David R Claypool remarked, "I know people are very happy. But this is the first I've heard of anything in 40 years.”

'Not Matured, Great': Ex-Pak Captain Namedrops 'Rohit' In Advice To Babar
With four defeats on the bounce, Pakistan's hopes of qualiying for the semi-finals of the Cricket World Cup 2023 hangs by a thread. On Friday, Pakistan suffered a heartbreaking one-wicket loss to South Africa in Chennai. Amid Pakistan's struggles in the ongoing Cricket World Cup, former skipper Mohammad Hafeez shared his views on Babar's leadership skills. Hafeez feels despite being in charge of the team for nearly three years, Babar lacks maturity as a captain, adding that it is too early to compare him with greats of Pakistan cricket.
"When it comes to Babar's captaincy, that maturity isn't quite there yet. He has been in charge of the team for three years and the tactical growth hasn't been there either. When he's called a great Pakistan player, then I have doubts over it. Those who say that probably haven't seen greats of the game - from Pakistan and around the world. Yes, he is a very, very good player. He is not great yet. He has to prove a lot of right things - and there are stages yet to come in his career. We are putting a tag on him before he's reached those stages. That's pressure on him, and when he's not able to perform in big tournaments, the load of expectations is so high, that people then deal it in a wrong way," Hafeez said on PTV Sports.
Giving the example of India captain Rohit Sharma, who is one of the top scorers in the tournament so far, Hafeez urged Babar to lead the team from the front, adding that he needs to bring aggression into his game.
"If Babar thinks that the pressure is getting the better of him or it has affected his game, then he has to make the whether he wants to continue like this or finish his career like of some of Pakistan's greatest players. Right now, he is the captain of Pakistan, so it we should back Babar. But, he has to improve his game, in terms of aggression. Rohit Sharma has been successful because he is leading from the front," he added.

Babar "Couldn't Do Well...": Akhtar's Message To Star Ahead Of India Clash
The Babar Azam-led Pakistan cricket team successfully chased a record high target of 345 against Sri Lanka at the Cricket World Cup 2023 on Tuesday. Mohammad Rizwan and Abdullah Shafique scored tons as Pakistan registered the highest ever successful chase in World Cup history. However, Babar Azam could not impact the game in a big way as he was out for just 10. For the second time in Cricket World Cup 2023, Babar Azam failed. In Pakistan's first match against Netherlands, Babar Azam was out for just 5.
Pakistan's next match is against India and before the match, fast bowling great Shoaib Akhtar has a message for Babar Azam.
"Yes, Babar Azam could not do well again. But we have found another player like Babar Azam in Abdullah Shafique. Babar is obviously a great player, but you need to go out there and win in bigger games like these. I am sure you will be able to do that in days to come. I hope you play big knocks in big games," Shoaib Akhtar said on his YouTube channel.
Akhtar also backed the Pakistan bowlers who conceded 344 runs. "As far as bowling is concerned, I will supports them. I really want Pakistan to go out there and do well. I won't criticise Pakistan's bowling as I had said that these are our kids and will back them. These are not ODI bowlers yet. Bowling 10 overs is a different thing. We played just 12 ODIs last year. This same bowling unit will start to perform in the upcoming two or three matches. I can understand the disappointment, but don't give up on them," Akhtar said.
Mohammad Rizwan and Abdullah Shafique clubbed centuries as Pakistan chased down the highest target in World Cup history to beat Sri Lanka by six wickets in Hyderabad on Tuesday.
The diminutive Rizwan overcame leg cramps to score a 121-ball 131 not out while Shafique hit a 103-ball 113 as Pakistan overhauled their 345-run target in 48.2 overs.
The victory gives Pakistan two wins in as many games and a huge boost in confidence ahead of their high-profile clash against India in Ahmedabad on Saturday.
"Always proud when you perform like that. It was difficult and when you chase like that, it's special," said Rizwan.
"Every player in the dressing room had the belief we can chase that."
On his cramping, he said: "Sometimes cramps, sometimes acting!"
Sri Lanka's imposing total of 344-9 was built around brilliant hundreds from Kusal Mendis and Sadeera Samarawickrama.
"I thought with the way the wicket behaved, we were 20-25 runs short," said Sri Lanka skipper Dasun Shanaka.
Rizwan cracked eight boundaries and three sixes while Shafique's knock had ten boundaries and three sixes as Pakistan improved on the previous highest World Cup chase of 328 by Ireland against England in Bangalore in 2011.
Rizwan added a match-turning 176 run stand for the third wicket with Shafique and another 95 for the fourth with Saud Shakeel who made a 30-ball 31.
Rizwan and Shafique lifted Pakistan from a disastrous start in which they lost Imam-ul-Haq (12) and skipper Babar Azam (ten) to pacer Dilshan Madushanka.

Justin Trudeau Trolled Again, Hilarious Memes Go Viral On Social Media
In a recent incident adding to the growing list of controversies surrounding Justin Trudeau, the Canadian Prime Minister is now being trolled for raising India with various global leaders.
Justin Trudeau on Sunday discussed India ties with the king of Jordan amid a huge row over the killing of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar.
"The Canadian Prime Minister spoke with King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein of Jordan on Sunday and he provided "an update on the situation between Canada and India, underscoring the importance of respecting the rule of law and the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations," his office said in a statement.
This came hours after Justin Trudeau spoke to UAE president Mohamed Bin Zayed about India and the "rule of law". "On the phone today, His Highness @MohamedBinZayed and I spoke about the current situation in Israel. We expressed our deep concern and discussed the need to protect civilian life. We also spoke about India and the importance of upholding - and respecting - the rule of law," Justin Trudeau had posted on social networking platform X on Sunday.
On social media, reactions were hilarious and overwhelmingly negative - calling him out for 'complaining' about India. Several users shared hilarious memes on X - formerly known as Twitter.

The Canadian Prime Minister drew huge criticism earlier this month over a video in which he was seen sticking out his tongue and winking at the House speaker.
Last month, a huge row had erupted after the Canadian Parliament gave a standing ovation to a Ukrainian World War II veteran who had fought alongside the Nazis.
"It was a horrendous violation of the memory of the millions of people who died in the Holocaust, and was deeply, deeply painful for Jewish people." Trudeau had said.

Explained: How World Responded To Hamas Terror Strike On Israel - And Why
The Hamas' unprecedented offensive against Israel cities has sharply divided global forces into two camps - one side expressing solidarity with Tel Aviv, and the other pointing to its role behind continuing violence in the region.
Behind the positions taken by each country are geopolitical considerations that range from strategic alliances to regional interests to shared goals to historical faultlines.
Here is how the world responded to the Hamas offensive attacks that killed nearly 300, followed by the Israel counterstrike that has claimed about 400 lives.
How West Asia Responded
Soon after nearly 5,000 rockets pounded Israel, overpowering its aerial defence system and causing massive damage, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the country is "at war" and that the "enemy will pay an unprecedented price". The Palestine State, led by Fatah Chairman Mahmoud Abbas, put out a statement in which it did not name Hamas, but said it had "repeatedly warned against the consequences of blocking the political horizon and failing to enable the Palestinian people to exercise their legitimate right to self-determination and establish long their own state".
The Egyptian foreign ministry appealed to "both the Palestinian and Israeli sides to exercise the utmost restraint". Cairo has been a key mediator in the Israel-Palestine conflict. It is also a key alley of the US in the region.
Jordan foreign minister Ayman Safadi warned of the "volatility" of the situation, flagging "Israeli attacks and violations against the Palestinian people" in West Bank, news agency AFP reported. Jordan was among the first countries in the region to ink a peace treaty with Israel.
The United Arab Emirates called for an "immediate ceasefire" and expressed condolences to "all the victims of the recent crisis, according to state media. Abu Dhabi and Tel Aviv official normalised their ties with the Abraham Accords Peace Agreement that came into force in 2021.
Morocco, which officially started diplomatic ties with Israel in 2020, said in a statement yesterday that it expresses "deep concern at the deterioration of the situation and the outbreak of military action in the Gaza Strip, and condemns attacks against civilians wherever they may be."
Arab League, a bloc of 22 Arab countries, called for an "immediate halt to operations in Gaza" and said "Israel's continued implementation of violent and extremist policies is a time bomb".

Saudi Arabia's position and its evolving ties with Israel are being considered a significant backdrop to Hamas' massive attack. The US, for long, has pushed Saudi Arabia to normalise ties with Tel Aviv. Against the backdrop, the strike is a clear message to Riyadh amid its peace moves. Following the attack, Saudi Arabia said the "Kingdom calls for an immediate halt to the escalation between the two sides, protection of civilians, and self-control". It echoed statements that the attack was a result of "continued occupation and deprivation of the Palestinian people of their legitimate rights".
The Syrian foreign ministry backed the Hamas attacks, calling it an "honourable achievement" and expressing "support" for forces "fighting against Zionist terrorism".
Tehran, known to back Hamas, had a similar response. A senior adviser to Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei called it a "proud operation", news agency AFP reported.
Qatar called upon all sides to de-escalate while holding Israel "solely responsible" for the ongoing escalation.
The West Stands With Israel
The US has expressed solidarity with Israel, its long-time ally. Soon after the attacks, President Joe Biden expressed condolences for the deaths caused by the Hamas offensive. He later stressed that his administration support for Israel is "rock solid and unwavering".
Over the past several decades, the US has mediated steps to normalise relations between Israel and other countries in the West Asian region. It was with Washington's support that the Abraham Accords agreements were signed between Israel, UAE, Sudan, Morocco and Bahrain in 2020.

The West Asian region is critical to the US scheme of things for reasons ranging from cultural to strategic. This focus has been reflected in policies of the US administration.
While the Donald Trump administration had slashed aid to Palestinians, the Biden regime restored some of this aid.
UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak called the Hamas attack "cowardly and depraved" and expressed full solidarity to Netanyahu.
The European Union condemned the Hamas attack, with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen calling the attack "terrorism in its most despicable form".
France joined others in the West in condemning the attacks. France stands in solidarity with Israel and the Israelis, committed to their security and their right to defend themselves, President Emmanuel Macron posted on X.
What India, China And Pakistan Said
Soon after yesterday's attacks, Prime Minister Narendra Modi posted on X that he is "deeply shocked by the news of terrorist attacks in Israel". "We stand in solidarity with Israel at this difficult hour," he added. India's relations with Israel have seen multiple stages. Right after Independence in 1947, India had been cautious in recognising the Israel State, primarily because of New Delhi's relations with Arab countries. In 1950, it formally recognised Israel as a state, with Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru saying "Israel is a fact". An Indian embassy in Israel, however, was set up only in 1992. On the Israel-Palestinian conflict, India maintained a neutral position for decades.
In 2014, articulating the Indian position on the issue, then External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj had said "there is absolutely no change in India's policy towards Palestine, which is that we fully support the Palestinian cause while maintaining good relations with Israel".

India-Israel relations have seen immense growth during the Narendra Modi government's regime. Prime Minister Modi was the first Indian Prime Minister to visit Israel in 2017, a year which also saw India become Tel Aviv's largest arms customer. In 2019, India also voted in favour of Israel's resolution to deny observer status to Palestinian non-governmental organisation Shahed at the UN Economic and Social Council.
China has said it was "deeply concerned" by the "escalation of tension and violence" between Israel and Palestine. Beijing said "the repeated clashes between Palestine and Israel fully demonstrate that the long-term stagnation of the peace process is unsustainable", news agency AFP reported. "The fundamental way out of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict lies in the implementation of the 'two-state solution' and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state," it added.
While there are no specific bilateral problems between Tel Aviv and Beijing, the latter has opposed Israel's construction activities in West Bank and East Jerusalem. China had also acknowledged Hamas' win in the 2006 polls in Gaza, which Israel and the US had rejected.
Responding to yesterday's attacks, Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said he was "not surprised". "What else can one expect when Israel continues to deny Palestinians their legitimate right to self-determination and statehood?" he asked in a post on X, formerly Twitter.
In an official statement, Pakistan foreign ministry called upon the international community to "come together for cessation of hostilities".
The Taliban-controlled Afghanistan's foreign ministry said the Hamas attack was a result of Israel "trampling on the rights of the oppressed Palestinian people".

Rajya Sabha MP Among Several Indians Stranded In War-Torn Israel
Rajya Sabha MP Dr Wanweiroy Kharlukhi, his wife, and daughter, are among several Indians stranded in Israel as the country plummetted into chaos following a surprise land-sea-air attack by Palestinian group Hamas on Saturday, sources have said.
Dr Kharlukhi, a senior member of the ruling National Peoples Party (NPP) in Meghalaya, and 24 other natives of the northeastern state who traveled to Jerusalem for a pilgrimage are stuck in Bethlehem due to the rapidly escalating violence.
Meghalaya Chief Minister and NPP chief Conrad Sangma said he is in touch with the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) to ensure their safe passage back home. According to sources, they might be evacuated by the Indian Mission to Egypt on Sunday.
READ | Explained: Why Hamas Chose October 6 To Launch Mega Offensive On Israel
Indian embassies in Israel and Palestine have warned Indian citizens to stay alert and contact them if needed, as the full-scale war between Hamas and Israel has claimed over 500 lives so far.
Over 18,000 Indian citizens live in Israel, mostly caregivers, IT professionals, and students. Additionally, there are about 85,000 Jews of Indian origin in Israel. The main waves of immigration from India to Israel occurred in the 1950s and 1960s, but in recent years, there has been an increase in the immigration of Jewish people from Mizoram and Manipur.
"In view of the current situation in Israel, all Indian nationals in Israel are requested to remain vigilant and observe safety protocols as advised by local authorities. Please exercise caution, avoid unnecessary movement, and stay close to safety shelters," the Indian Embassy said in its advisory.
The advisory included relevant phone numbers for emergencies and links to the Israeli Home Front Command's preparedness brochures.
"Today was a very difficult day, we have never seen a situation (like this). Within 20 minutes, 5,000 rockets were fired, and they (Hamas militants) killed 22 people while 500 were injured. This is a very difficult situation for the country," said Soma Ravi, an Indian national working in Israel for 18 years, as quoted by news agency PTI.
READ | Explained: What Hamas Wants, And Who Backs Its Fight Against Israel
Following the attacks by Hamas, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared a 'state of war' and launched an offensive against the Palestinian group, particularly in the sensitive Gaza Strip.
Fearing the war, Vikas Sharma, an Indian student at the Hebrew University in Tel Aviv said, "There's a tense situation in Israel because of the attack, but all the Indian students are safe. Most of the students are staying in dorms and accommodations provided by the college. We are in contact with each other as well as the Indian embassy through WhatsApp."
On Saturday night, the Representative Office of India in Ramallah posted a public notice urging Indian nationals in Palestine to contact the office in case of emergency. The notice provided two contact numbers for a 24/7 emergency helpline.
In the bloodiest escalation of the conflict since the 1973 Yom Kippur War, Hamas launched a massive rocket barrage and ground, air, and sea offensive, killing more than 300 Israelis and wounding 1,000, according to the Israeli army. Gaza officials said that Israeli airstrikes on the coastal enclave had killed at least 232 Palestinians and wounded nearly 1,700.

The IAF chief released the new ensign at the 91st IAF Day celebrations in Uttar Pradesh's Prayagraj.
In the new ensign, the IAF crest features in the top right corner.
It is a momentous day in the annals of the IAF's history, the force said on 'X'.
The unveiling of the new ensign by the IAF came over a year after the Navy made changes in its ensign shedding its colonial past.
The existing ensign was adopted in 1950, replacing the Royal Indian Air Force ensign that featured the Union Jack and the RIAF roundel (red, white and blue).
"As we start a new chapter in the history of IAF, let us all strive to be the change that we want to see," Air Chief Marshal Chaudhari said in his Air Force Day address.
"Let us work together to take our air force to greater heights and let us use our commitment and collective capacity to achieve excellence in all that we do," he said.
The Indian Air Force was officially established on 8 October, 1932. In view of its professional efficiency and achievements during World War II, the force was bestowed with the prefix "Royal" in March 1945. So, it became the Royal Indian Air Force (RIAF).
In 1950, the IAF dropped its "Royal" prefix and amended the ensign as India became a Republic.
The RIAF ensign consisted of the Union Jack in the upper left canton and the RIAF roundel (red, white and blue) on the fly side. Post-Independence, the IAF ensign was created by replacing the Union Jack with the Indian tricolour and the RAF roundels with the IAF tricolour roundel in the lower right canton.
"A new lAF ensign has now been created to better reflect the values of the Indian Air Force. This reaffirmation will now be reflected by the inclusion of the Air Force Crest in the top right corner of the ensign, towards the fly side," the IAF said in a statement on Saturday.
The IAF crest has the national symbol, the Ashoka lion on the top with the words 'Satyameva Jayate' in Devanagari below it.
Below the Ashoka lion is a Himalayan eagle with its wings spread, denoting the fighting qualities of the IAF.
A ring in light blue colour encircles the Himalayan eagle with the words 'Bhartiya Vayu Sena'.
The motto of the IAF -- 'touch the sky with the glory' is inscribed below Himalayan eagle in Devanagari.
The IAF motto has been taken from verse 24, Chapter 11 of the Bhagavad Gita and means "Radiant Thou Touchest Heaven" or in other words "touching the sky with glory".
The Air Force Day parade was held in Prayagraj.
The parade was traditionally held at the Hindon airbase near Delhi till 2021 before the event was taken outside the national capital. It was held in Chandigarh last year.

Watch: Kohli Pulls Off Sharp Catch At Slips. Bumrah's Reaction Says It All
Virat Kohli pulled off a brilliant catch at slips to provide India with an early breakthrough during the Cricket World Cup 2023 match against Australia in Chennai on Sunday. Mitchell Marsh looked nervous at the start of his innings and he ended up edging a delivery from Jasprit Bumrah straight towards the slips. Kohli was ready for the catch and made no mistake in completing a sharp chance. The excitement was clear on Bumrah's face as celebrations erupted following the important wicket.
Australia skipper Pat Cummins won the toss and elected to bat first against India.
Marcus Stoinis misses out in Chennai for the five-time winners due to a hamstring injury as the Aussies head into their 150th ODI fixture with India. The stadium was half-full before the first ball, but with thousands waiting outside. The match is expected to witness a packed house in contrast to the mostly empty stadiums seen through the tournament so far.

Review: Thank You For Coming - More Erratic Than Erotic
At under two hours, Karan Boolani's Thank You for Coming is by no stretch of the imagination a long film. But the frothy jabber-fest of a sex comedy, written by Radhika Anand and stand-up comic Prashasti Singh, quickly outlives its welcome.
The film not only fails to rid itself of its flabby frivolity but it also makes the audience wade through massive amounts of verbiage that often lapses into unintelligible blabber. Laboured, hackneyed and exhausting, Thank You for Coming makes the same point over and over again until it has absolutely nothing, fresh or otherwise, left to say.
It takes an eternity to find some sort of rhythm. When it eventually does - the film's second half is far better than the first, which isn't necessarily saying much given how wayward the kick-off is - it moves forward (and sometimes even backwards) only in fits and starts, goes into repetitive loops, froths at the mouth and gets exceedingly antsy.
More erratic than erotic, the film, produced by Anil Kapoor Films and Communication Network and Balaji Motion Pictures, delivers an essential anti-patriarchy message but does its cause no good by adopting methods that are so unsubtle that they could put an over-zealous soapbox orator to shame and put off people who might be inclined to hear the film out considering the thrust of its messaging.
All that Thank You for Coming is trying to tell us is that self-love is the best love if you are a woman and that shame and guilt are the first things that are to be thrown out the window if one is looking for true happiness. All the loquacity around that assertion is often pointless and tedious. Lack of restraint and skin-deep arguments rob the film of genuine impact.
It employs many different ways to put the avowed point across as the female protagonist, the mishap-prone Kanika Kapoor (Bhumi Pednekar), wends her way through her convoluted and perilous love life that yields no real pleasure. She holds on to her two best friends, divorcee Tina Das (Shibani Bedi) and the married Pallavi Khanna (Dolly Singh).
Tina, whose daughter Rabeya (Saloni Daini) has to reckon with her share of teenage angst, is a single mother. She left her husband when she found out that he was cheating on her. Pallavi appears to be happily married to the amiable Karan (Gautmik) but the understanding between the two evaporates when they get into an argument.
Kanika's is the ultimate male-free family. She lives with her mother Dr Bina Kapoor (Natasha Rastogi), a gynaecologist who gave birth to her out of wedlock, and maternal grandmother (Dolly Ahluwalia). The three generations of women share a roof but do not agree with each other on most matters. Peace is maintained in the household because they believe in the live-and-let-live credo.
Kanika's doctor-mom is of the belief that marriage is at best a tick mark in a woman's life. The heroine, forever on the lookout for a frog to kiss and turn into a Prince Charming, decides she wants that tick mark for whatever it is worth. She decides to get engaged to an unassuming businessman, Jeevan Anand (Pradhuman Singh), although Kanika does not exactly take a shine to him. Her friends are bewildered.
Jeevan isn't the only 'frog' in Kanika's life. There are several others, including an ageing professor (Anil Kapoor in a special appearance), who gifts books of Gulzar's poetry to girls half his age. Arjun (Karan Kundrra) and Rahul (Sushant Digvikar) are also in her orbit. But orgasm eludes her.
And then, one boozy night, it happens but the sloshed-out-of-her-wits Kanika has no idea who the man was. The second half of the film is devoted to the woman's search of the lover who did the trick and vanished. The search takes her from door to door.
Here on, the film beats about the bush (with greater intent than before) until it finds a clearing - the school auditorium where, 17 years ago, Kanika was summarily humiliated because she blurted out how babies are made - from where the woman, now 32, can make a 'smash patriarchy' declaration.
Thank You for Coming does not indulge in relentless male-bashing. The men around Kanika seem to be rather harmless, if somewhat confused. It is two women - Rushi Kalra (Shehnaaz Gill) and Neha (Kusha Kapila) - who are more intent on queering the pitch for her as she tries to find answers to the questions swirling in her head and heart.
Somebody tells Bhumi Pednekar's character that she is at the heart of the show. Everyone else is a side actor. They indeed are. Pednekar is in virtually every scene. She is called upon to go full-throttle and refrain from pausing for breath, but she manages to retain her composure through the mayhem that is triggered by her quest for a happily ever after ending.
Shibani Bedi, Dolly Singh and Gautmik do have their moments in the sun, but the rest of the cast are relegated to the background. Kusha Kapila, in a blink-and-you-miss role, is worst done by. Shehnaaz Gill, notwithstanding the fact that the character she plays claims that she is everywhere because she is happiness, fares only marginally better.
The seasoned ones in the cast, including guest star Anil Kapoor, have more substantial roles. Natasha Rastogi in the role of the heroine's mother and Dolly Ahluwalia as her Naani rise above the frequently deafening din.
That is where the rub lies Thank You for Coming is so screechy and loud that the actors have to not only outtalk each other but also, at times, shout each other down. If there is a takeaway from this film, it is this: talk is cheap, insight is not. There is plenty of the former in Thank You for Coming, little of the latter.
Thank You for Coming is like a raucous, full-on party where the surround sound is generally fine but the food is stale.

Video: Justin Trudeau's "Creepy" Act In Canada Parliament Sparks Backlash
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is facing backlash for his conduct in the House of Commons after a widely circulated video showed him playfully sticking out his tongue and winking at newly appointed Speaker Greg Fergus.
In the video, shared on X (formerly Twitter), Speaker Fergus is seen introducing Mr Trudeau as the "honourable Prime Minister" before his address. Wasting no time, Mr Trudeau makes a light-hearted correction by calling himself "very honourable", and winks.

Greg Fergus made history by becoming the first Black Canadian to hold the chair of Speaker in the House of Commons.
His election followed the resignation of Anthony Rota, who stepped down amidst controversy for honouring a man associated with a Nazi military unit during World War 2.
The members of the 338-seat House voted for Greg Fergus in a secret ballot. "Today, you are the first Black Canadian to become a Speaker. It should be inspiring for all Canadians, especially younger generations who want to get involved in politics,” said PM Trudeau.

Moungi Bawendi, Louis Brus, Alexei Ekimov Get Nobel Prize For Chemistry
Moungi Bawendi, Louis Brus and Alexei Ekimov have been awarded Nobel Prize for Chemistry for "discovery and synthesis of quantum dots".
Swedish media outlets on Wednesday published what they reported were the seemingly leaked names of this year's Nobel chemistry prize recipients, hours before the laureates were to be announced.
Nobel leaks are rare, with the various prize-awarding academies going to great lengths to keep the winners' names under wraps until the announcements.
Quantum dots are widely used in areas such as modern LED television screens, solar panels and in medicine where they among other things can help guide surgeons removing tumours.
The prize, which was raised this year to 11 million Swedish crowns (about $1 million), is awarded by the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences.
Chemistry is the third Nobel to be awarded this week after awards were announced for Physics and Medicine. Scientists Pierre Agostini, Ferenc Krausz and Anne L'Huillier won the 2023 Nobel Prize in Physics for "experimental methods that generate attosecond pulses of light for the study of electron dynamics in matter"
Hungarian scientist Katalin Kariko and US colleague Drew Weissman won the medicine prize for making mRNA molecule discoveries that paved the way for COVID-19 vaccines.

Man Had Disagreement With Daughter. Her Revenge Is Too Funny To be Missed
A man has shared a sweet revenge her daughter took after a minor disagreement over an issue. She prepared a notice of "father on sale" and put it outside the door of her house. The eight-year-old also placed a bid for her father at Rs 200,000. Sharing the photo of the notice on X (formerly Twitter), the man added a funny note that he thinks he is not "valued enough". The post has amassed more than 28,000 views and several users have reacted to it.

"To the contrary, I think that he values you very highly because I remember how at their age we tend to think that 2 lakhs is helluva lot of money," one user commented.
"Aww. So much love to her. May she always be this badass," another user said.
The man also interacted with other users who reacted to the post. "Here's some additional context: she asked me my monthly salary before making that note. Then she shrugged and kept this amount because too bored to add more zeroes," he said in a follow-up post.
There have been several such instances where fathers have replied hilariously to their daughters. One such conversation was shared by MoMo on Twitter (now rebranded as X) last year.
In it, the father roasted the woman over a blood report and it went viral on the internet.
The father informed that he has picked up the blood reports of the daughter and a friend. To which, the daughter replied "okay," and then he compared their blood reports. "Reports mai bhi wo A+ hai aur tu B- (In the reports she is also A+ and you are B-)," the father wrote.
Along with the screenshot, the woman wrote, "No one can roast you better than your father."

When Vladimir Putin's "Girlfriend" Said She Has Found Her "Ideal Man"
There is always a lot of interest in the life of Vladimir Putin, the influential Russian leader and former intelligence (KGB) officer. And this interest has been renewed since Russia attacked Ukraine in February last year. Now, an old interview of former Russian gymnast Alina Kabaeva, considered to be Mr Putin's "lover" is doing the rounds on the internet in which she talks about her ideal man. It was originally recorded in 2008, the year a Moscow-based newspaper first reported on the affair. However, both Mr Putin and Ms Kabaeva have never admitted to being romantically involved with each other.
Still, a lot has been said about the Russian President and his "close associate" Ms Kabaeva.
In the interview, Ms Kabayeva, then 24, is seen interacting with a group of Russian schoolchildren. She had won a gold medal at the Athen Olympics in 2004 that made her the most famous people in Russia.
As per a report in The Telegraph, that carried the excerpts of the interview, a boy asks Ms Kabaeva, "Have you met your ideal man?"
She pauses for a few seconds, swivels in her chair and plays with a pen before declaring: "I have met him." She giggles before saying that she was "so happy".
Another girl asks who the mystery boyfriend is.
"A man, a very good man, a great man,' Ms Kabaeva said, adding: "I love him very much."
In 2008, the year this interview was recorded, Mr Putin was married to his first wife, Lyudmila Ocheretnaya. The couple divorced in 2014.
In the video, Ms Kabaeva was also asked if she would ever steal a married man away from his wife and family.
"If a man is already looking at another woman and is already talking to her then the problem in the family has already happened," she said. "In that case, there can be no good in that family."
Asked about the last thing she gave her mystery man, Ms Kabaeva said she had gifted him "an Alaska coat, a coat with fur, very beautiful".
In the wake of the tension with the West over Ukraine invasion, many of Mr Putin's aides, including Ms Kabaeva, faced sanctions.
She retired from gymnastics in 2006 and became an MP for Putin's United Russia party before becoming a director at a pro-Kremlin private media company, The National Media Group.
It is a holding firm that owns stakes in almost all main Russian media outlets that spread government propaganda.
In March this year, Independent reported that Mr Putin has secretly spent millions on big properties for Ms Kabaeva (now 39) and their children.
The report was based on the investigation done by news portal The Project, a Russian opposition website banned by the Kremlin. It had said that Ms Kabaeva and Mr Putin have been living together in a luxurious palace about 250 miles north-west of Moscow.

US Man's Deadly Brain Disease Linked To Covid-19
Coronavirus can cause brain fog, hair loss, and even erectile dysfunction, and now a new case in New York shows that it can also contribute to fatal prion disease.
A 62-year-old man was admitted to a hospital in New York, Mount Sinai Queens Hospital Center, after he had difficulty walking and showed signs of rapidly progressive dementia, according to American Journal of Case Reports.
The paper states, "Clinically, he experienced worsening neurological function after having been COVID-19 positive on admission."
The patient was eventually diagnosed with prion disease, and his case has raised questions about whether Covid could have triggered the illness.
Doctors performed a series of tests on the man, including CT and MRI scans of the brain, "both of which were repeated twice and were normal without any diffusion restriction."
However, his condition continued to deteriorate.
"Approximately 3 weeks into hospitalization, the patient became progressively mute and had difficulty swallowing soft foods, requiring PEG [percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy] tube placement," the doctors wrote of the need for the feeding tube. "He subsequently became spastic with severe pain on passive flexion-extension. Six weeks after admission, the patient was declared dead."
The doctors in the report say the circumstances provide evidence of a "potential correlation" between Covid and neurodegenerative conditions.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Prion disease is "a family of rare progressive neurodegenerative disorders that affect both humans and animals. They are distinguished by long incubation periods, characteristic spongiform changes associated with neuronal loss, and a failure to induce inflammatory response." Prion diseases are fatal.
Symptoms of prion disease include changes in gait and difficulty walking, hallucinations, confusion, muscle stiffness, fatigue, and difficulty speaking, according to The Independent.
The doctors in the report said that this is not the first time a patient has died from prion disease following Covid-19 infection. The doctors said that it has happened at least three other times since the virus emerged.
The report said, "Evidence in the literature about an association between COVID-19 and neurodegeneration is unclear," the study said. "Nonetheless, it is evident that multiple neurodegenerative conditions might be a result of pathogenic illnesses, most commonly prion disorders."
