Watch: Cow Was In The Grip Of Lioness. This Is What The Farmer Did

A video showing a farmer saving his cow from a lioness attack in Gujarat has been gaining traction on social media. It was posted on Twitter by Vivek Kotadiya, corporator of Keshod in Gujarat's Junagadh. His tweet said that the incident took place in the Gir Somnath district when the lioness pounced on the cow. The farmer is seen walking up to his cow and attempting to chase away the lioness. The clip was recorded by a passenger who was passing by.

The farmer was successful in saving his cow and scaring away the lioness.

As the video starts, the cow is seen in the clutches of the lioness. The big cat's jaws are on its neck.

The cow is seen desperately trying to get rid of the lioness' grip but its efforts remains futile. Both the animals also move towards the side of the road during the struggle.

The farmer, who owns the cow, is seen walking towards the animals with his hand raised in an attempt to scare away the lioness.

Seeing the big cat refusing to leave the cow, the man then picks up a brick from the side of the road and rapidly moves towards the cow.

By this time, the animals have moved to the side of the road and continuous sounds from the farmer makes the lioness to lose its grip.

With the farmer walking towards it, the lioness runs away from the spot.

Earlier this month, a buffalo successfully thwarted a lion attack by making use of a crocodile-infested river. The video was shot by Antoni Britz, the manager at Elephant Walk Retreat.

Girl 12 Sold For Rs 40000 To 27-Year-Old In Madhya Pradesh; 5 Arrested

Five people have been arrested for abetting child marriage and human trafficking in Madhya Pradesh's capital Bhopal, police said.

The arrests were made after women and child welfare department officials prevented the marriage of a 12-year-old tribal girl with a 27-year-old man on June 27 in a village under Gunaga police station limits near Bhopal, police said on Wednesday.

According to police, the girl's parents had sold the girl for Rs 40,000 and received an advance of Rs 20,000, with the remaining amount to be handed over to them after the wedding.

Superintendent of Police (SP, Bhopal rural), Kiranlata Kerketta said, "We received information from the Women and Child Development Department about a child marriage in Gunaga police station area on Monday (June 26) following which we reached the spot and saw that the 'haldi' ceremony was taking place. The minor told police that her parents had fixed her marriage for Rs 40,000 and they had dimissed her protests, SP Kerketta said.

The officer added that a case was registered against five persons so far, including the parents of the minor girl, the bridegroom and his parents under the Human Trafficking, Juvenile Justice Act, Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, SC/ST Act.

All these accused have been arrested, police said.

Further investigation into the matter is underway, the police official said adding that cases would be lodged against those who worked as brokers or were if they were found to be involved in the case.

Harvard Professor Hunting For Alien Objects In Ocean Finds...

A Harvard University professor has found some "promising material" while searching for the remains of the first confirmed interstellar object to fall to the Earth. Professor Avi Loeb launched a dredging project two weeks ago to explore the depths of the Pacific Ocean for proof he needed. According to Encyclopaedia Britannica, two interstellar objects - that entered the solar system from interstellar space - have been discovered in recent years: 'Oumuamua', which was discovered in 2017, and Comet Borisov, which was discovered in 2019.

Professor Loeb started a blog on Medium in which he gave updates about the $1.5 million expedition.

The things that his team found include 50 spherules - small spheres of material mere millimetres in diameter that are characteristically shed from meteorites as they enter and burn up in Earth's atmosphere.

The spherules were captured by a large magnetic sled across the ocean floor off the coast of Papua New Guinea.

"As molten droplets from a fireball, they carry information about the elemental and isotopic composition of the first recognised interstellar meteor," Professor Loeb wrote in the blog.

"Aside from spherules, we recovered anomalous objects, such as a manganese-platinum wire, an iron peanut, an iron bean, as well as corroded iron shards... we will study these anomalous items in great detail," he further said.

As per Harvard website, Professor Loeb received a PhD in plasma physics at the age of 24from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem in 1986. He joined Harvard University in 1993.

When 'Oumuamua' was first spotted, many researchers including Professor Loeb posited that the object was an alien spaceship. Others suggested that it was an asteroid or a comet.

'Oumuamua' is around 100 metres long while Borisov's length is between 0.4 to 1 kilometres. These objects are the earliest known interstellar objects.

AI In Food? This Video Of 'Machine Chef' Tossing Food Got Over 2 Million Views

In the recent past, we have seen how artificial intelligence has become a buzzword and is being used in different wakes of life. While lawyers are using the help of AI in their arguments, chefs are generating recipes using the software. But can you imagine if AI could cook for you? Recently, a video of a 'machine chef' was shared on Twitter and it is making the internet dizzy. Wondering what the reason is? Take a look at the video and see for yourself:

The video was originally shared on Twitter by a page named 'Sharing Travel'. Since the time it was posted, it has received over 2.3 million views and 10.8k likes. "Crazy machine chef. I'm hungry," read the caption to the post. In the clip, we could see a machine stir-frying or tossing vegetables in a wok. For the unversed, this is a very common cooking technique in which vegetables are tossed rapidly in high temperatures to keep them crisp. Typically, we have seen this being done by human chefs with a lot of effort and skill. However, with the help of this robotic technology, it was easily manageable with minimal hassle. The speed of the wok-tossing process could also be increased multiple times thanks to the machine chef.
Thousands of comments and reactions poured into the video of the machine chef. A user asked, "Is this the future of the catering industry?" while another reacted, "When machines will cook for us! Everyone will have a personal khansamah!" Several thought that the use of machinery in cooking would yield excellent results that no human could ever make. One user commented, "You can imagine how perfect this stir fry would be."

Electricity Bills Set To Rise In Delhi. AAP Blames Centre

Power consumers in Delhi with monthly usage of over 200 units will have to pay more after an 8 per cent hike in the power purchase adjustment cost (PPAC), prompting Minister Atishi to allege that electricity is getting costlier in the city due to the Centre's "mismanagement".

Atishi, the power minister in the city government, told reporters on Monday that the hike will not impact consumers whose electricity consumption is 200 units or below. There will be a 8 per cent hike in PPAC surcharge in power bills of those consumers who do not get subsidy, she said.

"I just want to tell the consumers that only the Centre is responsible for this hike. It has forced the use of imported coal, which is 10 times costlier than domestic coal. This is despite no lack of coal mines or availability of coal in the country," she said.

The PPAC is revised every three months and it can increase or decrease depending on the prevailing prices of fuel such as coal and gas used in power generation.

Harish Khurana, the BJP's Delhi unit spokesperson, however, blamed the hike on a "nexus" between the discoms and the AAP government.

"The AAP is shamelessly claiming that the PPAC increases in the summer and decreases in the winter every year. The reality is that the PPAC was hiked from 16 per cent to 22 per cent last year and it has again been hiked," Mr Khurana claimed.

The people of Delhi get free electricity on monthly consumption of 200 units. Those consuming 201-400 units get 50 per cent subsidy.

Atishi alleged, "I want to say that if the electricity is getting costlier in Delhi, it is only because of the Centre's mismanagement."

Noting that discoms are allowed to increase or lower the PPAC for three-month periods, Atishi said, "The prices of electricity have been increased because, due to the Centre's mismanagement, there is an artificial shortage of coal in the country for the first time in the last 70 years, shooting its prices (up)."

The Centre has "forced" coal buyers to purchase at least 10 per cent imported coal, which costs 10 times more than Indian coal. Domestic coal is priced around Rs 200 per tonne while the imported variety costs Rs 25,000 a tonne, the Delhi power minister claimed.

"We want to know from the Centre if there is a nexus with coal importers which is why coal buyers are being forced to purchase imported coal at 10-times higher prices," she asked.

Etihad Worker Uses System Data To WhatsApp UK Woman Airline Apologises

A 23-year-old British woman, who was returning from a holiday in Abu Dhabi, was left shocked after receiving unsolicited WhatsApp messages from a contractor working for Etihad Airways.

Taking to Twitter, Hannah Smethurst shared a screenshot showing Whatsapp messages from a United Arab Emirates (UAE) number she did not recognise. The name displayed next to the number was Muhammed. According to The Guardian, she received the messages while waiting to board a flight from Abu Dhabi to Manchester, UK.

"A guy who works for the @etihad airline used my personal data which he found via the airline database after seeing my passport to get my phone number and proceeded to text me, terrifying experience travelling alone," Ms Smethurst wrote while sharing the screenshot of the chat.

Take a look below:

According to the screenshot the 23-year-old shared, the worker texted her saying, "Heyyy I have seen you from abudhabi," with a smiley face emoji tacked on. When Ms Smethurst questioned how the sender got her number, the person replied, "I searched u in the system" and clarified they were referring to the airline's system.

The messages continued, "If am disturbing u ... Just block me". Minutes after the first message, the sender added, "FYI (For your information) Ur flight is boarding".

Ms Smethurst, who is a student paramedic, said that this incident left her feeling concerned about her safety. "I was alone, so I just felt really vulnerable because it stuck in my mind that he knows my number, knows my home address and my full name and email address and obviously everything you give the airline when you book," she said as per The Guardian.

"I just felt vulnerable and scared. [It] made me feel like he knew what was going on and where I was going," she added.

The 23-year-old also stated that the airport staff did little to help her when she complained. She spoke to a manager who offered to take her off the flight so she could file a police report but also warned her that the next flight to Manchester would leave only after 24 hours.

In the end, Ms Smethurst decided to take her original flight out of Abu Dhabi. She said that it was actually the Manchester Etihad customer services who helped her upon landing. The airline reportedly said that the team had initiated a full investigation after speaking to the 23-year-old and establishing that there had been "inappropriate conduct by an employee of a third-party contractor".

"As a result of the investigation, the relevant employee involved has been disciplined in accordance with the contractor's disciplinary procedures. The privacy and safety of our guests is our No 1 priority and we sincerely apologise for the distress caused to our guest," Etihad spokesperson said.

Box Office Report: Adipurush The Ramayan Nobody Asked For "Collapses"

Adipurush, starring Prabhas and Kriti Sanon as a version of Ram and Sita, failed to pass the Monday test despite a strong first weekend at the box office. Om Raut's VFX-heavy retelling of the Ramayan recorded a drop of 78% in earnings on Day 4 with Box Office India reporting Monday's collections at Rs 7.75 crore net. This takes the film's net earnings to Rs 113 crore (from Rs 105 crore at the end of Sunday). The controversies Adipurush is currently mired in appears to have caught up at the box office. Audiences in the Hindi belt came to see one Ramayan and got to see a completely different one, according to Box Office India.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh did not sugarcoat his verdict. "The negative word of mouth has come into play. After a strong opening weekend, Adipurush collapses on Monday," he tweeted.

Even before release, the VFX in Adipurush attracted criticism. After it released last Friday, reactions were brutal – as much for its depiction of events in the Ramayan as for the dialogues, more street than mythic. Lines spoken by actor Devdatta Nage as Bajrang or Hanuman were singled out for coruscation. Over the weekend, dialogue writer Manoj Muntashir tweeted a long defence of the lines he had written but also announced that the makers had decided to revise some of the dialogue.

Adipurush opened to uniformly poor reviews though some performances were praised. The cast of the film comprises of Prabhas as Raghav, Kriti Sanon as Janaki, Saif Ali Khan as Lankesh or Ravan, Sunny Singh as Shesh or Lakshman, and Devdatta Nage as Bajrang.

"India's Disaster Management Capability Has Increased": PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said the Emergency was a dark era in the country's history when atrocities were committed on those supporting democracy.

He asserted that India is the mother of democracy which holds democratic values and the Constitution supreme and, therefore, "we cannot forget June 25 when Emergency was imposed on us".

Emergency was imposed in 1975 by then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.

In his Mann Ki Baat radio broadcast, Modi also lauded India's increasing capability to deal with natural disasters as he expressed confidence that the people of Kutch will quickly recover from the devastation caused by cyclone Biparjoy.

The prime minister said after the devastating earthquake two decades ago, people had expressed doubts about whether Kutch will be able to recover from the destruction.

But the people of Kutch recovered from the disaster, he said.

PM Modi also said that in the last few years, India's disaster management capability has increased and it is becoming an example.

Cyclone Biparjoy made landfall near Jakhau on Thursday evening, leaving a trail of destruction in the Kutch and Saurashtra regions of Gujarat.

The prime minister said this time he is holding his 'Mann ki Baat' radio broadcast on June 18 instead of the last Sunday of the month as he will be travelling to the United States next week.

Modi said during his visit, he will get an opportunity to participate in the International Yoga Day programme at the UN headquarters in New York.

"I appeal to all of you to adopt yoga in your life and make it part of your daily routine," the prime minister said.

But soon, her post was filled with questions like “Rohan sir kyu nahi hai (why Rohan sir is not in this clip)” and “Rohan sir kahan hai (where is Rohan sir)?”

Neha Kakkar and Rohanpreet Singh got married on October 24, 2020, in a lavish ceremony in New Delhi.
