Madhuri-Karisma Danced Together Again. The Internet's Dil To Pagal Hai

When two OGs unite for a post, it is bound to trend and so is the case with Madhuri Dixit and Karisma Kapoor's new collaborative post. On Wednesday afternoon, the actors shared a video in which they can be seen dancing to the track Balam Pichkari. The caption on the post read, "Dance of envy" which was struck and the word "friendship" was written instead. The Dance Of Envy was an instrumental piece from their 1997 film Dil To Pagal Hai where Madhuri and Karisma's respective characters Pooja and Nisha did a dance-off. They were both in love with Shah Rukh Khan's Rahul in the film. Madhuri Dixit and Karisma Kapoor famously starred together in Dil To Pagal Hai along with Shah Rukh Khan and Akshay Kumar in a cameo appearance.

The post was full of comments from fans and friends. Karisma's sister Kareena Kapoor wrote, "The OG Superstars." Bhumi Pednekar wrote "Icons." Mukti Mohan wrote "OG dancing superstars." A comment from a fan read, "Fav OGs." Another one added, "Lolo and Dhak Dhak OMG." Another one read, "Shah Rukh ki kami hai bas (only Shah Rukh is missing). Beautiful to see them together." In terms of work, Madhuri Dixit was last seen in Amazon Prime Video's Maja Ma last year. She also starred in the Netflix series The Fame Game, also starring Sanjay Kapoor and Manav Kaul earlier in 2022. Madhuri Dixit is a star of hits like Tezaab, Devdas, Dil Toh Pagal Hai, Devdas, Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!, Khalnayak, Saajan, Beta, Koyla, Pukar, Prem Granth, among many others.

Karisma Kapoor's last project was ALTBalaji's web-series Mentalhood. She will soon star in a project titled Brown. Her breakout film was Raja Hindustaani, opposite Aamir Khan. She featured in several hit films including Dil To Pagal Hai, Judwaa, Biwi No 1 among others. Watch: Skipper MS Dhoni Cuts 5-Tier Cake After Chennai Super King's IPL Win

Cricket team Chennai Super Kings (CSK) clinched its fifth title in the Indian Premier League (IPL) after beating Gujarat Titans. As the exciting final concluded on May 29 in Ahmedabad, fans were beyond elated to see their favourite team win. Skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni was indeed a crowd favourite in this IPL season as people were excited to see him return to the field. And, of course, the celebrations had to be coupled with some delicious food as well! A video surfaced on Twitter which showed the CSK team and Dhoni cutting a 5-tier cake. Take a look:

The video was shared on Twitter by the official handle of Chennai Super Kings, @ChennaiIPL. "The Kings Victory March," they wrote in the caption of the post that has raked in over 453k views and 30k likes.
In the video, we could see thousands of CSK fans who had gathered to greet their favourite team after the win. Meanwhile, the CSK team players were quite excited to bring the trophy home and were seen dancing and celebrating. In a banquet hall, chefs prepared a giant five-tier cake as CSK won IPL 2023. The giant cake marked each year that CSK had won the title - 2010, 2011, 2018, 2021 and 2023. The cake was themed in yellow and blue, just like the colours of the CSK jersey and also had details like the trophy made on top. Skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni was seen cutting the cake as chefs and colleagues cheered him on.

Industrialist and chairman of Mahindra Group, Anand Mahindra has never shied away from expressing his views in public. And, it came as a surprise that Mr Mahindra had a few thoughts to share before the IPL 2023 final match scheduled to be held on Sunday [May 28]. “Both Shubman [Gill] and MS Dhoni are incredible talents, and it's tough to choose between them. Let's hope for a thrilling match where their skills shine brightly. May the best team emerge victorious and give us a memorable game to cherish. Enjoy the match!” another user commented.

However, fans will have to wait a few more hours to witness who will be the champions this season. Due to persistent rain in Motera, the final match of IPL was pushed to reserve day - May 29 [Monday].

This was after a heavy downpour was experienced just half an hour before the match, making it impossible for the game to commence at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.  Given that there is no forecast for rain on Monday, fans are hopeful that they will get to witness a riveting final match.

Video: Part Of 6-Storey Apartment Building Collapses In US, 7 Rescued

Rescue operations were launched in Davenport, in US state of Iowa, after part of a six-storey building collapsed on Sunday. Seven people are believed to be trapped under the rubble and an unknown number of others are injured, according to NBC News. The rescue operation continued through Sunday night, the outlet quoted city officials as saying at a press conference. There are also fears that the collapse of the building just before 5pm may have caused leakage of gas and water from the apartment, Davenport Fire Chief Mike Carlsten said.

"A portion of the rear building had actually collapsed, separated from the building," he said.

More than a dozen people received help from first responders as they left the building, NBC News quoted Mr Carlsten as saying.

Mayor Mike Matson did not rule out possible deaths in the incident. "There are people unaccounted for," Mr Matson said.

New York Post said that the back of the six-storey apartment complex collapsed and had separated from the building, which houses apartments on the upper floors and businesses on the ground level.

The police in Davenport advised locals to avoid the downtown area after the collapse.

A reunification area established at St. Anthony's Church on Main Street was being serviced by Red Cross personnel, the fire department said as per a New York Post report.

The cause of the collapse was not immediately known but civic authorities have launched an investigation.

Rich Oswald, City of Davenport director of development and neighborhood services, told New York Post that work was being done on the building's exterior at the time of the collapse.

Video: Ashneer Grover's Appearance On Roadies 19 Promo Stumps Fans

Ashneer Grover, former MD and co-founder of BharatPe, is all set to return to television with 'Roadies 19: Karm ya Kaand'. On Saturday, the makers of the reality TV show dropped a new promo video from the auditions, featuring new gang leaders and host Sonu Sood. Mr Grover too made an appearance in the clip and left his fans surprised. 

In the clip, gang leaders Prince Narula, Rhea Chakraborty and Gautam Gulati are seen engaged in an intense bidding war for contestants. At one point, Ms Charoborty and Mr Gulati also propose to walk out of the show. Just then, Mr Grover walks in and quizzes a contestant. "Bheek hi mang raha hai na. Bhai le lo mereko (you're begging to be selected, that please take me)," he said.

"Selling Dhoni Was Career Highlight": IPLs 1st Auctioneer Ahead Of Final

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 final is set to kick-off on Sunday evening, with MS Dhoni's Chennai Super Kings up against the defending champions Gujarat Titans. Dhoni, who is chasing his 5th title as the captain of CSK, has been a part of the franchise ever since he was bought in the inaugural IPL 2008 auction. The man who had sold him in the bidding war back then, Richard Madley, posted a brilliant tweet ahead of the final of the 16th edition of the league, recalling the first auction.

Madley had sold Dhoni after a bidding war for the wicket-keeper batter between CSK and Mumbai Indians saw his price rising from USD 400,000 to USD 900,000.

In his tweet on Sunday, Madley called selling Dhoni the highlight of his career.

"Selling #Dhoni in the first #IPL auction was a career highlight & meeting him was very special. He signed this for my son @harrymadley6. Good luck today," he tweeted along with a picture of Dhoni's autographs for his son.

To make this occasion even more memorable, the 'Captain Cool' will be making his 250th IPL appearance, his 11th final as a player and his 10th as a skipper.

No other player has played 250 IPL matches and Dhoni is the first player to do so. Dhoni has made most appearances in IPL finals as a player and as a captain.

In IPL, Mahendra Singh Dhoni has played for Chennai Super Kings and Rising Pune Supergiant.

In 249 IPL matches so far, Dhoni has scored 5,082 runs at an average of 39.09 and a strike rate of 135.96 in 217 innings. His best score is 84* and he has scored 24 half-centuries. He is the seventh-highest run scorer in the league's history.

For Chennai Super Kings, the right-handed batsmen have played 219 matches. In 190 innings he has 4508 runs with 22 half-centuries. His highest score was 84. The strike rate is 137.52 Dhoni's batting average is 40.25.

"I Cheekily...": Varun Gandhi Shares Selfies From New Parliament Building

"How Far Will They Go?": BJP On 8 Chief Minister's Boycott Of Key Meeting

The BJP today lashed out at chief ministers who boycotted the governing council meeting of the NITI Aayog, calling their decision "anti-people" and "irresponsible".

The meeting, which will deliberate on several issues including, health, skill development, women empowerment and infrastructure development, with an aim to make India a developed nation by 2047, began here on Saturday.

Addressing a press conference, senior BJP leader and former Union minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said the NITI Aayog is a key body for determining the entire objective, framework and road map for the development of the country.

He said as many as 100 issues are proposed to be discussed in the eighth governing council meeting of the NITI Aayog but chief ministers of eight states are not coming to attend it.

Chief ministers Arvind Kejriwal, Bhagwant Mann and Mamata Banerjee are among those not attending the meet.

"Why are they not coming to attend the meeting where 100 issues are to be discussed. If such a large number of chief ministers do not participate, they are not bringing the voice of their states," Mr Prasad said.

It is "very unfortunate, irresponsible and anti-people", he said. "How far will you go in opposing Prime Minister Narendra Modi," the BJP leader asked.

"You will get more opportunities to oppose PM Modi. But why are you causing harm to the people of your state?" he questioned.

This decision to boycott the meeting by eight chief ministers is "totally irresponsible" and is also "against the public interest and in the interest of people they govern in their states", Mr Prasad said.

Tipu Sultan's Sword Sold For Rs 140 Crore At London Auction

The bedchamber word of Tipu Sultan, the 18th century ruler of Mysuru, has sold for 14 million pounds ($17.4 million or Rs 140 crore)) at an auction in London. Auction house Bonhams, which organised the sale, said the price on Tuesday was seven times the estimate. Bonhams further said that the sword was the most important of the weapons with proven personal association with the ruler. Tipu Sultan won fame in wars of the late 18th century. He fought against the Marathas on several occasions between 1175 and 1779.

"This spectacular sword is the greatest of all the weapons linked to Tipu Sultan still in private hands. Its close personal association with the Sultan, its impeccable provenance traceable to the very day it was captured, and the outstanding craftsmanship that went into its manufacture make it unique and highly desirable," said Oliver White, Bonhams Head of Islamic and Indian Art and auctioneer.

The sword was found in the private quarters of Tipu Sultan's palace.

"The sword has an extraordinary history, an astonishing provenance and unrivalled craftsmanship. It was no surprise it was so hotly contested between two phone bidders and a bidder in the room. We are delighted with the result," Nima Sagharchi, group head of Islamic and Indian Art at Bonhams, said in a statement.

Tipu Sultan was given the nickname "Tiger of Mysore" for the ferocity with which he defended his kingdom.

He pioneered the use of rocket artillery in wars and transformed Mysore into the most dynamic economy in India, Bonhams said on its website.

After Tipu Sultan was killed, his sword was presented to British Major General David Baird as a token of his courage, according to the auction house.

"Irresponsible": Babar's Motorbike Ride Sparks Safety Concerns Among Fans

Fans expressed concers over Babar Azam's safety after the Pakistan captain hit the streets of Lahore on his BMW sportsbike. Last year, India wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant was involved in a serious car crash.

Since then, he has been out of action due to the injuries he sustained in the car accident that he met with.

He was ruled out of the ongoing edition of the IPL, as well as the World Test Championship (WTC) final.

Recently, Pant took to his Instagram and shared a story, where he was seen at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru, indicating that he has started his rehabilitation. 

According to a medical update provided to the BCCI about Pant, who survived the horrific accident on December 30, Pant tore all three of his knee's key ligaments. Two of them have already undergone reconstruction, and surgery on the third is scheduled for six weeks from now, according to ESPNcricinfo.

As a result, Pant's chances of being selected for the ODI World Cup, which will be held in India in October-November.

Pant had undergone successful knee surgery earlier in January.

Review: Agra - Portrait Of Fragile Lives, Thwarted Dreams

Kanu Behl's new film, rapier-sharp and trenchant, is in many ways a follow-up to Titli, which premiered in Cannes Film Festival's Un Certain regard sidebar nine years ago.

In tone and texture, Agra isn't a replica of Titli, but in spirit and substance it extends the concerns that Behl articulated in his debut film. It seeks to delve into the psyche of a young man grappling with his sexual urges in a home where space is limited.

Agra deals with the physical dimensions of a middle-class house as much as it probes zones of the mind of a 25-year-old looking for avenues to for his rampaging hormones.

People driven into a corner by the lack of financial opportunity and space for manoeuvre resort to questionable ways to stay afloat, no matter how precariously, and find their ways out of hostile social and familial environs.

Titli was about a family of carjackers who are, like many of their ilk, left out of the economic boom sweeping large parts of India's national capital city and its satellite townships.

They resort to violence and crime to make a grab for what otherwise wouldn't be theirs and the youngest male member of the brood wants to opt out of the family's line of work and finds an ally in the wily girl he marries.

In Agra, which had its world premiere on in Directors Fortnight on Wednesday, a libidinous 24-year-old male trapped in a severely dysfunctional (or is it non-functional?) family gives into his uncontrolled sex drive and invites trouble. He hopes to build a room on the terrace. Two other claimants – his father and mother – have their own ideas about what to do on the terrace.

Guru (played by debutant Mohit Agarwal) lives with his mother (Vibha Chhibber) and frequently escapes into a world in which he intends to marry the girl he loves and settle down. The girl is Mala (Ruhani Sharma) but until he has a room that he can call his own, matrimony is out of the question.

Guru and his mother are always at loggerheads. The latter wants to start a clinic with the help of a niece, Chhavi (Aanchal Goswami), a diabetic dentist whose proposed marriage, too, isn't unconditional. Guru's father, Prakash, lives upstairs with another woman (Sonal Jha), who is simply “Aunty Ji” to Guru.

Above them all is the terrace – a contested site where a squirrel in a cage is emblematic of what is wrong with the lives of the people who live in the house. The cramped spaces that they occupy affect their thinking, adversely impact their already troubled relationships, and the consequent fears and misgivings aggravate matters.

Not until Guru encounters Priti (Priyanka Bose), who owns an internet café and has a back story no brighter or better than his, does his life reach a turning point. But where it will lead him and his partner, who serves as an outlet for his bottled-up concupiscence, is unclear because there are too many imponderables littered in their path.

Sex provides Guru the release that he craves, but his carnality looks like a mechanical and constricting chore rather than an act of liberating ecstasy. It does not evoke love, not even simple, unalloyed lust, but a form of desperation.

The repression that Guru seeks to tide over serves as a metaphor for not only his own debilitating frustrations but also for the obstructions that the social segment that he is a part of faces on a daily basis.

The screenplay, written by Behl and Atika Chohan, portrays a small-town bursting at the seams on account of indiscriminate urban growth – a story universally true of all growing economies and cities where space is at a premium and does not come without hustling.

The film homes in on individuals in a single modest house who have nothing in common – a microcosm for a society that is condemned to pulling in different directions because of the inequities that it perpetuates – and even thrives on.

This bleak but illuminating portrait of fragile lives and thwarted dreams employs palette animation for the purpose of transitions and reflecting the state of the young protagonist's mind. These are the only points in the film where we see splashes of colour on the screen although the patterns that they create are nebulous, random, disorienting, and understandably so.

The characters who people Agra seek escape from the drudgery of their lives but the negotiations for space – the parleys with the construction company demonstrate the position of weakness from which Guru and his ilk must bargain – and compromise.

The cinematography by Saurabh Monga heightens the sense of claustrophobic gloom that clings to the film. The sound design (Pritam Das, Philippe Grivel) combines retro Hindi film sings and a grating, hollow drone that approximates the void in the hearts and lives of members of a family that barely holds together.

Behl, like he did in Titli, allows the actors to just be who they should be instead of getting them to act. They respond admirably, merging wholly with the universe of the characters and conveying degrees of emotional and mental laceration.

Both Rahul Roy and Priyanka Bose immerse themselves so completely that they are well-nigh unrecognisable. Mohit Agarwal lives his part. Vibha Chhibber, Sonal Jha and Aanchal Goswami, fleshing out the three women in the young protagonist's immediate domestic environs, do pretty much the same.

Agra has scenes that are dramatic and centre on violence inflicted on one's self and on others but Behl holds a tight rein on the flow of the narrative. He delivers pertinent social commentary pretty much like he did in Titli, and with as much power and precision.

Relief For Samajwadi Party's Azam Khan, UP Court Revokes A Guilty Verdict

Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan was today acquitted by an Uttar Pradesh court in a 2019 hate speech case. The Rampur court overturned the verdict of a lower court which had found the Samajwadi leader guilty last year of of hate speech targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

The Samajwadi leader had accused the Prime Minister of creating an atmosphere in the country in which Muslims found it difficult to exist.

Following the 2022 verdict, Khan was disqualified as an MLA.

A government counsel in the case said the special court accepted the appeal filed against Khan's sentence.

Khan's counsel Vinod Sharma said, "We have been acquitted in the hate speech case. We are happy that we have got justice." "Our contention that we had been framed in the case has been upheld by the court, and the judgement is in our favour," Sharma added.

After Khan's membership to the assembly was disqualified, a by-election was held in the Rampur Sadar seat. BJP candidate Akash Saxena defeated the SP's Asim Raja, a close aide of Khan, in the polls.

Azam Khan has a strong following in Rampur and other parts of western Uttar Pradesh.

The Samajwadi leader faces 87 cases, with charges ranging from corruption and theft to land grab, filed since the BJP took power in Uttar Pradesh in 2017.

Cannes 2023: Sunny Leone Is Making Monochrome Look So Good

Bollywood star Sunny Leone is attending Cannes Film Festival this year.  The actress arrived in the French town with her husband Daniel Weber on Sunday and is at present gearing up for the screening of her film Kennedy on Wednesday. Amidst all the preparation, the actress treated her fans to her second look from the film festival. In the picture, Sunny Leone is dressed in a black top and white pants. The look is simple yet elegant. For the unversed, Sunny Leone, will be making her big fat debut on the red carpet of the world's biggest film festival. Ahead of the screening of her film and her debut on the red carpet, Sunny Leone spoke to film critic Anupama Chopra On Sunday and opened up about the “pressure of the red carpet,” her film's selection and her look for the big day. “I have severe anxiety, meaning severe. It's not that I have not been on the red carpet before, I think it's (the pressure) because it is me and something much more. The feeling behind this particular film, the feeling that it's been chosen by such a prestigious group of juries and that it (Kennedy) made it and they appreciated it and said, ‘Yes, we want your film to be a part of this festival.' It just means so much more.”

Speaking about her red carpet debut, Sunny Leone shared that she is not paying heed to “what other people think I should wear.”  The actress said, “Something that I find very odd is the very first question people ask, ‘What are you going to wear?' I don't know, I am going to wear clothes. I just don't know what it is.”

The actress documented a similar feeling in a separate Instagram video too.

“The anxiety is severe. I have been seeing everybody online and everybody looks so pretty and expresses themselves in their way. I hope everybody likes my expression of what I feel looks beautiful and pretty,” said Sunny Leone in a clip from the Frankfurt airport.

Talking about Sunny Leone's auditioning process in depth, Anurag Kashyap said, "I asked her for an audition and she said yes. She just was so happy and overwhelmed with it." He also revealed that the Ragini MMS star was so grateful that she was being approached for the role that she instantly agreed to audition for it.
