Rahul Gandhi On T-Shirt Question: "Will Make Video On How To Handle Cold"

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Saturday tackled the "T-shirt" controversy that appears to have taken the centrestage after he marched into Delhi borders on December 24 leading his Bharat Jodo Yatra with just a white T-shirt and trousers amid severe cold condition.

Speaking to the media, the Congress MP gave an amusing response when quizzed on his winter woolen choices as the national capital saw mercury hover between 7 and 4 degrees Celsius over the past week.

In a light-hearted conversation with reporters, the Wayanad MP said that he is thinking of making a video on "how to tackle winter in a T-shirt" once the Yatra concludes.

While addressing the press conference, Rahul Gandhi said, "Why is there so much hullabaloo over a T-shirt? I do not wear a sweater because I am not scared of winter. I am thinking of wearing a sweater once I start feeling cold."

It is not like only social media users and others have raised the T-shirt issue, but several videos doing rounds have purportedly showed his mother and former Congress chief Sonia Gandhi questioning him on his winter wardrobe.

Rahul Gandhi also said he considers the Bharatiya Janata Party as his "guru" (teacher) as the BJP shows him a roadmap and teaches him "what should never be done".

Addressing a press conference, the Wayanad MP said, "I want them (BJP) to attack us aggressively, this will help the Congress party understand its ideology. I consider them (BJP) as my Guru, they are showing me the way and training me on what is not to be done."

While talking about the Bharat Jodo Yatra which entered New Delhi on December 24 before taking a nine-day break, he said, "When I started this, I just took it as an ordinary yatra from Kanyakumari to Kashmir. Slowly we understood that this yatra has a voice & feelings."

"The doors of Bharat Jodo Yatra are open for everyone, we are not going to stop anyone from joining us. Akhilesh ji, Mayawati ji and others want "Mohabbat ka Hindustan"," he said in an open invite to the other parties of the opposition ahead of the 2024 general elections.

Rahul Gandhi's mass contacting campaign, Bharat Jodo Yatra, was issued cautionary notes by the Centre amid a rise in COVID-19 cases across neighbouring countries.

So far, the Yatra, which started from Kanyakumari on September 7, has covered parts of Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Maharashtra and Haryana.

It is the longest march on foot by any Indian politician in the history of India, the Congress has claimed.

With this yatra, Rahul Gandhi aims to mobilise the party cadre and unite the general public against the BJP's "divisive politics in the country".

Gambhir Wants This Youngster To Open With Rohit In ODIs. It's Not Rahul

Former cricketer Gautam Gambhir said Ishan Kishan should be India's first-choice opener alongside Rohit Sharma in the ODI format for the coming years. In his most recent match against Bangladesh in Chattogram, Kishan turned his first ODI century into a career-high 210. The wicketkeeper-batter converted his maiden ODI ton into a double hundred in just 126 balls, the fastest in ODI history. Now that Shikhar Dhawan won't be playing in the ODIs, Gambhir thinks Kishan should continue to play the role of an opener.

"I'm amazed we're discussing this because someone's got a double-hundred in the previous innings. The discussion is over. It has to be Ishan Kishan. Someone who can get a double-hundred in those conditions against a reasonable attack, especially at home, should play," ESPNcricinfo quoted Gambhir as saying when asked who he would like to see as Rohit's opening partner.

Kishan received a call-up for India's three-match ODI and T20I series against Sri Lanka starting from January 3 to January 15.

"He got what 200 by the 35th over mark? You can't look at anyone beyond Ishan Kishan. He has to be given a longer run. He can also keep wickets as well, so he can do two jobs for you. So for me, that discussion shouldn't be there. If someone else had got a double-hundred, I think we would've gone gung-ho over that individual, but it's not the case with Ishan Kishan. Because we still continue to talk about other players. For me, that debate is over," Gambhir further added.

Despite Suryakumar Yadav's batting in the 50-over format not being as remarkable as his T20 performances, Gambhir thinks he may still be a valuable asset at No. 4. Suryakumar has scored 384 runs in 16 ODIs, with just two half-centuries.

"It's very difficult to look beyond Rohit and Ishan Kishan to open the batting, Virat at three, Surya at four, [and] Shreyas at five, because he's been incredible in the last one-and-a-half years. Yes, he's had issues against the short ball, but he's been able to manage it. You can't be the best against everything but if you're able to manage it and got the numbers going for you, you can't look beyond Shreyas at No. 5 and Hardik [Pandya] at 6," Gambhir said of his ideal India XI.

Gauri Khan, Daughter Suhana Party With Family And Friends

Suhana Khan, daughter of Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan, completed her higher studies from New York. Before that she studied films at Ardingly College. "Praying For Your Recovery": Kohli's Heartfelt Tweet To Pant Is All Of Us

Ever-since the news of India wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant's horrific accident broke out, everyone has been left in a state of disbelief. Pant was driving his Mercedes car, which met with an accident near Roorkee in Uttarakhand. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has informed that the left-handed batter has sustained two cuts on forehead and a ligament tear in right knee and his currently admitted at the Max Hospital, Dehradun. Players are praying for the speedy recovery of the Delhi-based cricketer. Former India skipper Virat Kohli also took to Twitter and extended his wishes. 

"Get well soon @RishabhPant17. Praying for your recovery," tweeted Virat Kohli.

Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar wrote, "Wishing you a very speedy recovery @RishabhPant17. My prayers are with you."

India all-rounder Hardik Pandya wrote, "Praying for a speedy recovery. Stay strong bro @RishabhPant17."

India veteran batter Shikhar Dhawan also extended his wishes to Pant. "Thank you God ki kaafi bachaav hogaya. Sending you lots of healing, prayers and positivity. May you regain your strength and good health soon. @RishabhPant17," tweeted Dhawan.

Pant dozed off while driving, which resulted in the accident, and had to break the windscreen of the car to escape after the vehicle had caught fire. Director General of Uttarakhand Police, Ashok Kumar, has confirmed that the cricketer was alone in the car at the time of the accident and broke the windscreen to escape from the vehicle after it caught fire.

"Indian cricketer Rishabh Pant's car met with an accident at around 5:30 am. The incident took place at Mohammedpur Jat near Roorkee. According to what Pant said, he dozed off while driving and as a result the car collided with the divider and caught fire. He was moved to the Roorkee hospital from where he has now been shifted to Dehradun," DGP Ashok Kumar told the media.

Pant was part of the Indian team that had won the Test series against Bangladesh 2-0 earlier this month. He had impressed with knocks of 46 and 93.

He was recently dropped from the T20I team announced for the series against Sri Lanka and was supposed to join National Cricket Academy for strength and conditioning programme ahead of February's Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia.

Pant has been India's regular wicket-keeper across all formats after MS Dhoni's retirement and has been one of India's top performers with the bat in Test cricket in past two years.
